Freddie Roach’s plan for Pacman against Marquez

The upcoming fight between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez gets nearer and nearer. This is the third time bout between the two and if Freddie Roach will have his way, he wants Pacman to begin practicing for his defense of the welterweight crown in the World Boxing Organization against Marquez of Mexico as early as the first week of September.

Moreover, with an interview, the coach stated that he planned a nine-week training program for Pacman in the Philippines and in Los Angeles, California to build up the Pound-for-Pound King for their third match on November 12, 2011 to be held in Las Vegas. In his previous bouts, Pacman, a champion for eight divisions, had been trained for eight weeks.

According to Roach, Pacman will be practicing for three weeks in the Philippines under his plan and six weeks at the Wild Card in L.A. He also said that it is an excellent division of time than the previous. They will be focused more at Wild Card. The move is obviously meant to protect the number one boxer today from interruption that spoiled his previous practice sessions in the Philippines.

Roach added that the past two bouts of Manny against Marquez were both close so Pacman’s coach and trainer wants him to focus more to make sure that at the end of their third bout, Pacman will be declared as a winner again.

The coach also added that he is not worried if Pacman will loss this time against Marquez, or that he has been careless in his practice. Roach claimed that he cannot see any basis why Marquez can beat the number one Pound-for-Pound boxer. Also, the latter has shown for several times how serious he was in every training, almost killing himself in the course of his training.
