Why Manny Pacquiao Won? Manny knows…

The third bout between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez ended with so much controversy as some people thought that it was Marquez who really won the fight for the third times around, but the scorecard says it was still Pacquiao is the true winner. Although the fight finished until 12th rounds, the judges score showed that the Pound-for-Pound King was still the winner despite of the fact that some people see that it must be Marquez.

However, the scoring differs on how the judges see if a boxer really fights or not. In a 10-point score system, the fighter, who wins each round was given by perfect 10 score and the other fighter only got 9 points, if there was a knockdown in the round, the judges will give the fighter who knockdown his opponent he will be given 10 points while his opponent will get 8 points, and with two knockdowns the score will be 10-7.

In addition, if a judge cannot decide whether the reigning champion or the challenger won the round, the score will be 10-10. And with the case of Pacquiao and Marquez, in which the latter is the challenger, Marquez must be the aggressor and not the reigning champ. For instance, if ever Pacquiao will simply star still and Marquez does not attack either, the People’s Champ will still get the 10 points and Marquez will get 9 points.

In their third bout, Pacquiao was always the aggressive one while his challenger Marquez only waits for an attack and counters. Also, the body language of Marquez tricked many people especially those in the arena. Making the watchers feel that he was the real winner or at least the decision must be draw and not majority.

It may seem like the he throws more punches but the complicated part in their situation is that he was on the defensive, tempting Pacquiao into his strategic plans. And this was not to be that way because the challenger must be the one to be much aggressive so that he can get a perfect ten points. So even though the Mexican boxer did hit more punches, he only gets nine points for being defensive and Pacquiao still gets the ten points for as he always attacked his challenger. This how the Pound-for-Pound King retained his throne in the boxing arena.
