Floyd Mayweather to Fight Miguel Cotto Instead

Boxer Floyd Mayweather persuaded the Nevada State Athletic Commission to provide him license so he can fight before going behind bars on June 1. However, even though he got the permission to make a bout on May 5 and got almost anything he wanted, fans will definitely be saddened because he will not make a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Instead, Mayweather will have a fight with Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas after he was granted to have a one fight before entering the jail on June to start serving his 90 days sentence stemming from a case of criminal domestic violence. In addition, Mayweather, with 42-0 and 26 knock outs, picked Cotto, with 36-2 and 29 knock outs as his next enemy only after failing to land a date with Pacquiao.

Mayweather and Pacquiao have talked about what is probably to be the most profitable bout in the history of boxing for almost three years without reaching a clear deal. Mayweather claimed after meeting with the Nevada commission that he presented Pacquiao with the bout, adding that he is blowing many smoke and the Filipino champ does not really want to have a bout. Mayweather also claimed that he gave him an opportunity to step up to the plate. He said that they were talking about $10 million fighter that he tried to give $40 million to.
