Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao: An Overview of Who He is
The name Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao has been very known as he became the Pound-for-Pound King in the world of boxing. This title has been in his hands for many years after showing how great his punches are and after he defeated several famous boxers, such as Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya and many more.But who is Pacman in the first place? Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao was the real name of our boxing champ and he was born on December 17, 1978. Aside from being a boxer, he is also a politician and leading his province as a Congressman. Pacman has already won the eight-division world champion. He is the first boxer in the history to win ten world titles in eight various weight divisions. No wonder why he has been called one of the best fighters in the whole world.
In addition, Pacquiao has been the first world boxer in the history that won the lineal championship in four various weight classes. The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) hailed him as the “Fighter of the Decade” in 2000 and named as The Ring Fighter of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
At present, Manny is the WBO Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion) and WBC Super Welterweight World Champion. The Ring, Yahoo! Sports, NBC Sports, ESPN, About.com, Sporting Life, and Sports Illustrated rated him as the number one Pound-For-Pound Best Boxer in the whole world.
Moreover, apart from being a boxer and a Congressman, Manny also participated in recording, music and even acting. He is also the only active boxer to become a Congressman in the Philippines.
